History of Our Restaurant
In the last few months, many restaurants in the Long Beach, CA area closed down abruptly, including the Chinese restaurant, Forbidden City. Our restaurateur, Rod Frontino, took an interest in it when he heard that the previous owners plan to retire.
Frontino decided not to change the Asian-centric decoration but did some minor changes and upgrades to the layout. The grand opening of Jade Restaurant was on May 15th, 2019.
The restaurant has a lotus blossom fountain hand-carved from a nine-ton jade boulder, which was placed by the previous owners, Michael Brausen and Gao Yan. The name of the restaurant "Jade" was inspired by this fountain. Various other Chinese collectibles owned by the previous owners also adorn the restaurant.
Fusing Asian Cuisine with American Cuisine
Rod Frontino has decided to spruce up the design of the restaurant by adding tinted windows and capitalizing on the marina-facing patio space with weekend brunch service.
Jade Restaurant also has more variety in the Asian-themed menu with happy hour specials, steak options, and American-style breakfast options. We also serve sake, wine, liquor, specialty drinks, and beers in our bar. You can enjoy vegetarian and gluten-free food in our restaurant.
